In development and validation

VITTA delivers the efficiency.
VITTA IA helps sustain it.

VITTA IA is the artificial intelligence assistant that Juan Azcue is developing to keep the energy efficiency of pumping installations at its highest level, throughout their working life.

A high-efficiency pump is the starting point. Preserving that efficiency over the years depends on everything around it: the borehole, the water, the rising main, the cable and the power supply. VITTA IA analyses the whole, not just the machine.

It is applied to VITTA pumps and to installations with equipment from any other manufacturer.

How it follows an installation

Why VITTA IA exists

A borehole is not a static installation

Levels vary. The pipe ages, becomes encrusted and its head losses increase. The hydraulics wear. With each change, the pump's duty point shifts and the installation loses efficiency with no breakdown and no alarm going off: quite simply, every cubic metre costs a little more.

The analyser · installation diagram
The same borehole, described with its real depths: casing by sections, static and dynamic water levels, submergence and exact position of the pump set. When any of those values changes, the efficiency of the whole installation changes.

01

Conditions change

Levels, head losses, cable condition, wear of the hydraulics.

02

The duty point shifts

The pump leaves the zone in which it delivers its best efficiency.

03

The cost per cubic metre rises

Efficiency is lost little by little, and it is paid for on every bill.

Extreme conditions

Aggressive water, contaminated aquifers, entrained sand or suspended solids: in these conditions the loss of efficiency accelerates. This is where keeping watch over the installation is most valuable.

The knowledge behind VITTA IA

12,000+

repairs carried out and documented by Juan Azcue

An artificial intelligence trained on real experience

Each documented repair records what was replaced or repaired in the machine, and why. Over decades, that history has been building up what no catalogue curve tells you: how and why borehole pumps really fail.

VITTA IA is trained on that base. It is what allows it to recognise failure patterns, project how a deficiency will evolve and interpret the consequences of an alarm with workshop judgement, not just with statistics.

  • Failure patterns
  • Projections
  • Consequences of alarms

How VITTA IA is organised

Two phases, two moments in the installation

The first phase establishes the state of the installation. The second follows its evolution. They are independent in time, but not in method: the second always starts from the first.

PHASE 1

In validation

The analyser

The snapshot of the installation: its past, its present and its future.

The first step of VITTA IA is an exhaustive analysis of the installation, supported by artificial intelligence and by the technical judgement of Juan Azcue. It does not analyse the pump in isolation: it analyses the whole, because each element of the installation influences the performance of all the others.

Past

The history of the borehole

The history of the borehole is reconstructed, including that of previous pumps of any make: workshop repairs, parts replaced and how often, installation and pull-out operations. Failure patterns are sought and cross-checked against water quality, power supply quality and the electromechanical installation.

Present

The still picture

Borehole, water, pump and motor, rising main, position of the pump set, duty point, electrical installation and energy cost. Everything that can be calculated is calculated from what has been declared, and each result states where it comes from. If a piece of data is missing, that is stated; it is not made up.

Future

Projections and scenarios

Each deficiency detected is projected over the short, medium and long term, drawing on how similar cases have evolved in Juan Azcue's repair history, together with what it will cost if it is not corrected. Each corrective action is quantified, its payback is calculated and it is compared with the others in scenarios.

An installation may also come out of the analysis at optimum efficiency. In that case what VITTA IA provides is knowing it with data, and establishing the baseline against which all subsequent reviews will be measured.

The future · the projection of the installation

With the past and the present on the table, the analyser projects how the installation will evolve: where the duty point is heading, what efficiency will remain and how much each cubic metre will cost if no action is taken.

The analyser's projections screen: evolution of the duty point with the system curve and the pump curve year by year
Future · Projections and scenarios
The system curve rises when the dynamic water level drops and the pump curve falls if there is wear. No point is placed by hand, and each scenario has its level, its flow rate, its efficiency and its specific cost alongside.

It works even when data is missing

The more there is, the better the analysis will be. What cannot be calculated is declared, rather than estimated.

What is cheap to check comes first

Hypotheses are ranked by what it costs to check them, not by how likely they seem.

Nothing reaches the customer without validation

The technician validates, qualifies or discards each proposal, and what is discarded is recorded with its reason.

The customer decides

They accept, decline or put each recommendation on hold. Their reason is also recorded: that is how the system learns.

PHASE 2

Monitoring

The film of the installation: real time and interpreted alarms.

With the installation connected, the initial snapshot starts to move. VITTA IA checks in real time how each reading in the analysis evolves: levels, consumption, water quality and power supply quality.

Real-time monitoring
Each signal from the borehole, with its evolution. At the top, the space where VITTA IA interprets what is happening and records its alerts and recommendations.

The projection sets the horizon. The real measurement adjusts it.

The projections from the first phase are continuously updated and corrected with what is happening in the borehole.

More certainty about when it is worth acting

The decision no longer rests on a forecast alone, but on the measured evolution of the installation.

It builds on what already exists

It integrates with the customer's monitoring, without requiring their system to be replaced, and proposes additional instrumentation only when it adds demonstrable value.

What it tracks continuously

  • Static and dynamic water levels
  • Flow rate
  • Pressure
  • Consumption
  • Motor temperature
  • Voltage and current
  • Supply quality
  • Conductivity and water quality
  • Cost per m³

Phase 2 · Intelligent alarm management

It does not display data.
It interprets it.

Traditional monitoring systems warn you: an alarm goes off. The hard part is knowing what it means. For each alarm, VITTA IA analyses why it has occurred, drawing on the experience of more than 12,000 documented repairs, what may happen if the situation progresses and what should be done, with the cost of each option on the table.

The questions it answers

  1. What is happening
  2. Why
  3. What consequences it may have
  4. How it is evolving
  5. When it is worth acting
  6. How much it costs

Measured fact

The motor temperature is above its usual value, with the flow rate stable.

Possible causes

Cross-checked against the repair history and ranked by what it costs to check them: a drop in the dynamic water level reducing cooling · a shifted duty point overloading the motor · deterioration of the insulation. Each with its check.

Every signal, with its question

Overconsumption

Why is the installation consuming more to pump the same?

Temperature

What is preventing the motor from cooling as it should?

Voltage

Does the problem come from the supply or from the installation itself?

Current

Overload, wear or a shifted duty point?

Level

Is it a one-off drop or a drift in the aquifer?

Flow rate

Has it been lost in the borehole, in the pump or in the rising main?

Pressure

What has changed in the discharge or in the network?

Water quality

How does a change in conductivity or entrained solids affect the machine?

And always, the same sum at the end: how the kWh per cubic metre vary and what that means in euros. Valid, quantified information, to make the right decision at the right time.

From measurement to decision

The projection sets the horizon.
The real measurement adjusts it.

Each monitoring reading corrects the forecast left by the initial analysis. So the question stops being whether it is worth acting and becomes when it is worth doing so.

The real measurement corrects the projection

Everything is quantified. Each finding is translated into a unit the customer understands without technical training, the cost per cubic metre pumped, and each action is presented with its investment and its payback. Scope and development status

Brand independence

The system analyses the installation, not the manufacturer of the equipment. It is applied to VITTA pumps and equally to equipment from any other manufacturer.

Integration with what exists

It does not require the customer's control systems to be replaced. It builds on the data already being recorded.

Status

Advanced functional specification

The data capture and diagnostic architecture is largely defined. The next stage is the internal pilot, before commercial roll-out.

Recognition

Revoluciona Award

VITTA IA has received the Revoluciona Award, in its 5th edition, from BBVA and the University of Valencia.

The aim

It is not about watching over an installation. It is about supporting the customer throughout the service life of their equipment.

VITTA IA is in development and validation. If you are interested in taking part in the pilot programme with one of your boreholes, let's talk.
